At Wildflower, we give children the time and space to engage fully in what they are doing. Rather than moving quickly from one activity to the next, we allow learning to unfold in a way that feels natural.
The Role of the Adult
The role of the adult is central to the learning experience.
Our practitioners do not simply supervise. They observe carefully, listen closely, and respond in a way that supports each child's development.
This might mean:
- sitting alongside a child and extending their thinking through conversation
- introducing a new idea at the right moment
- stepping back to allow independent exploration
These decisions are made in the moment, based on a clear understanding of the child.
A Balance of Structure and Freedom
Children benefit from both familiarity and flexibility.
Each day has a rhythm that children come to recognise, with consistent routines around mealtimes, rest, and group moments. Within that, children are given the freedom to choose how they spend their time and what they engage with.
This balance helps children feel secure, while also encouraging independence and decision-making.

The environment plays an important role in how children learn.
Our rooms are designed to be calm, organised, and easy for children to move through independently. Resources are accessible, purposeful, and chosen to encourage exploration and problem-solving.
We avoid overstimulation. Instead, we create spaces where children can focus, return to activities, and build deeper engagement over time.

Strong relationships underpin everything.
Children learn best when they feel secure and understood. Each child has a key person who builds a consistent relationship with them, supporting both their emotional wellbeing and their development.
These relationships allow adults to respond in a way that feels personal, rather than general.

Children's needs change as they grow, and our approach adapts with them.
Babies — Discovery and Exploration rooms
Learning focuses on connection, routine, and sensory experience. Babies are supported through consistent care, close interaction, and a calm environment.
Toddlers — Connection and Curiosity rooms
Children begin to explore more independently. Language develops, movement increases, and curiosity becomes more visible in how they engage with the world.
Preschool — Imagination Room and Scholar Suite
Children develop confidence, communication, and the ability to work alongside others. They begin to make connections, solve problems, and prepare for the transition to school.
Preparing for School
Preparing for school is not about pushing children forward too quickly.
It is about building the foundations they need to feel confident, capable, and ready for the next stage.
This includes:
- communication and language
- independence
- social confidence
- the ability to focus and engage
These skills develop naturally through consistent experiences over time.

Our approach is supported by strong leadership and experience across the group.
Our Head of Nurseries in England has previously worked as an Ofsted inspector. This brings a detailed understanding of what high-quality early years provision looks like in practice, as well as how standards are assessed.
This experience helps ensure that our approach is not only thoughtful, but consistently well delivered across our nurseries. It also gives parents added reassurance that care, learning, and development are being supported to a high standard.

Parents are an important part of a child's learning journey.
We share regular updates, observations, and insights so that you feel connected to your child's day. We also take time to listen, so that we understand what matters to you and your child.
This partnership helps create consistency between home and nursery.
Keeping You Connected to Your Child's Day
We know how important it is to feel informed and reassured while your child is at nursery.
We use the Famly app to share updates throughout the day, including photos and key information about routines such as meals and activities. This gives you a clear picture of your child's day, even when you are not there.
Communication is simple and direct. You can message the nursery team, ask questions, and receive updates in one place.
Alongside daily updates, we also share a monthly nursery newsletter. This keeps you informed about what children have been exploring, any upcoming events, and general nursery news.
Together, this helps you feel connected, informed, and involved in your child's experience.
